CG12_61 Curzon Street – London

The new 2000 sqm eight storey building sits on the visually prominent corner of Curzon Street and Bolton Street and contains roof terraces at the upper levels giving views south towards Green Park and west along Curzon Street.

The facade design makes reference to the proportions and composition of the adjoining Listed Georgian buildings, whilst using traditional dark grey handmade brick and natural Portland Stone in a contemporary yet contextual form, to achieve a striking and dignified aesthetic appropriate to the location.

The scheme takes full advantage of this view and places a double height entrance on the corner to clearly denote a dramatic effect. The ground and first floors of the façade are clad in Portland stone and incorporate a bold two storey pier which is subtly angled to articulate the facade and places a vertical fin at an angle that will more readily be seen from the oblique angles from which the building will often be viewed.
