The Nuova Biblioteca di Bressanone (New Library of Bressanone) is located between two historical buildings forming the background of the great edification void that is the Piazza Duomo, the urban beating heart, this access leads to the ex Finanza (former Finance Building) where we now find the space to accommodate the new project. The new form is tectonically grafted anchoring itself to the preexistences as a pure morphological abstraction of the skyline of the entire dolomite valley. The factory communicates as a cinematographic sequence, the tight dialogues between interior and exterior spaces, the sequence of plans/piazza – internal patio – statue / internal patio – newspaper library – garden patio / reception – newspaper library – path / newspaper library – path – reading room – sky / newspaper library – landscape staircase – the reading room; take us by the hand to the didactic visual screenplay of the space. The unexpected presence of fire idealizes familiar events, inducing a circular arrangement, preparing the reading ritual. Working with preexistences implies an interrogation, that a sense of pragmatic order must guarantee a fluid and natural spatial continuity. The body of the Tribunale and of the ex Finanza are both considered as spatial extensions, mimetically integrating and anchoring the internal connectivity while leaving immune the external expressive historical identity.
